Since diabetes may greatly increase risk for heart disease and peripheral artery disease, measures to control blood pressure and cholesterol levels are an essential part of diabetes treatment as well.<\/p><\/div>\n                                            <div class=\"ct-tab-content \" id=\"ct_tabs-748d277-2385a82\"><p>The roles and responsibilities of the nursing team relating to diabetes care include: Prevention advice, using behaviour change and health coaching techniques\u00a0 Screening, prevention and early detection of type 2 diabetes. Promoting self-care.<\/p><\/div>\n                                            <div class=\"ct-tab-content \" id=\"ct_tabs-748d277-05322fb\"><p>Controlling blood sugar (glucose) levels is the major goal of diabetes treatment, in order to prevent complications of the disease.\u00a0Type 1 diabetes is managed with insulin as well as dietary changes and exercise.
